Macrocytosis – cells which are larger than a lymphocyte nucleus

Causes

  • Pregnancy
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Alcohol use
  • Drugs: azathioprine, hydroxyurea
  • B12/folate deficiency
  • Reticulocytosis
  • Imatinib / sunitinib therapy
  • MDS
  • Liver disease
